Saint-Léonard
Discover the Saint-Léonard neighbourhood.
Saint-Léonard is characterized by a strong Italian presence. It is a family-friendly neighborhood that offers a wide range of recreational and sports activities right out of one of the many schools, as well as the opportunity to explore the old fossils of the Caverne de Saint-Léonard. Located in the north of the island of Montreal, the borough is surrounded by Montreal North, Anjou, Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie and Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc Extension. It is close to the metropolitan highway and is served by numerous bus routes, even though there is no metro line on its territory.

HOUSING BOOM
The vast majority of dwellings are plex-type buildings (2 to 5 units). Single-family homes and condos are the exception. The dynamism of the neighborhood can be seen in the real estate boom of the last few years. Following the revitalization of the neighbourhood, several high-rise apartment buildings have sprung up. In the wake of this economic growth - and the (planned) extension of the blue line of the metro - there is no doubt that this real estate momentum will continue.

THE LEONARDOISE COMMUNITY
Over the years, the mostly French-speaking community of Saint-Léonard has become more socially, culturally and intergenerationally diverse. If more than 20% of the population speaks Italian at home, the trend is towards ethnocultural diversification in Saint-Léonard, with the settlement of immigrants of all origins, along with French Canadians and Leonards of Italian origin. Of course, this Italian presence does not go unnoticed. The small restaurants and Italian shops are a delight for the residents!

SCHOOLS AND SCHOOLS
It is easy to choose a school in Saint Léonard because there are so many schools in the area! No less than seven elementary schools, two French and English high schools (Laurier-McDonald, Antoine-de-Saint-Exupéry), a vocational training center and an adult education center! Not to mention the many daycare centers for the little ones... Neighborhood schools often mean recreational activities. After school, children will enjoy going to one of the three pools of the Saint-Léonard Aquatic Complex or to these more cultural places.

CULTURAL ATTRACTIONS
Saint-Léonard is not lacking in cultural attractions. The Caverne de Saint-Léonard, a natural cavity 35 meters long and eight meters high, leads the visitor to observe fossils dating back 450 million years. Note: the visit is guided by speleologists from the Société québécoise de spéléologie! For other exciting moments, you can choose between the plays, shows and concerts of the Mirella and Lino Saputo Theater and the recreational activities of the Leonardo da Vinci Center which offers cooking classes, language courses (English or Italian), gym for children and all kinds of exhibitions and shows... For the more athletic, there is the Stade Hébert (soccer field under a dome accessible year round), the Martin-Brodeur Arena, the Roberto-Luongo Arena and the Saint-Leonard Aquatic Complex.
